It might also draw from the team's larger history and bring in later characters such as Miss Martian, Superboy (Conner Kent), Blue Beetle, etc. The show seems to be trying to have it both ways, with Dick Grayson's Nightwing in his late 20s, a young adult Starfire, and Beast Boy and Raven as teens.
